Here is an outline for a typical instructional program for a client being seen for a 12-week, individual class:
I. Evaluation: (1 hour individual appointment)
depth assessment of spoken English to include background information,
speech sound production, spontaneous speech and reading samples,
followed by an analysis of error patterns and deviations in prosody,
rhythm and stress.
II. Classes: (12 one-hour individual appointments)
accent enhancement program designed from the analysis derived from the
evaluation. Extensive home study and practice materials are provided.
III. Program Measurement:
occur during the 6th (mid way point) and 12th (final) meetings. There
is a re-examination of target phonemes to compromise intelligibility
and communicative effectiveness.
