Jason joined the County-Speech team in August of 2006 to complete his Clinical Fellowship Year. Originally from Queens, NY, Jason received his B.S. Ed in 2004 from the State University of New York College at Fredonia. After completing his degree, he moved to the west coast and attended San Jose State University, where he received his M.A. in 2006.

Jason’s clinical experiences have included the acute care, sub-acute and outpatient facilities; in addition to, the school settings where he has worked in the elementary through high school levels providing speech-language services to students whose diagnoses included autism, hard of hearing, articulation, voice, pragmatics and language disorders. Jason enjoys working with all age groups, but has a special interest working with the adult population whose diagnoses include: dysphagia and cognitive-linguistic deficits associated with stroke and TBI.

 

Deborah Wells

Deborah has been a resident of San Diego since 1993 and is a native Californian. She earned an Associates Degree in Child Development and worked with very young children for 13 years. She graduated with her MA degree from San Diego State University in May of 2006. Deborah joined the County-Speech team in August 2006.

Her clinical experience includes diagnosis and treatment of adults, pre-school and school-age children with deficits including language, phonology, articulation, fluency, and pragmatics. Deborah also has experience working with children and adults who use an AAC (augmentative/alternative communication) device. She has a special interest in working with preschool and elementary school age children.

 

 

 

 

Alycia J. Dukes, M.S., CCC-SLP

Alycia joined the County Speech staff in August of 2006. She has experience with assessment and treatment of adult populations in the acute/rehab hospital setting as well as clinical setting. Her experience includes bedside dysphagia evaluations and treatment, FEES, MBS, cognitive rehabilitation, treatment of aphasia, voice disorders and dysarthria.

Alycia also has a strong clinical background in treating pediatric populations in both the school and clinical settings. She has experience with diagnosis and treatment of the following deficits: articulation disorders, delayed/disordered language, phonological processes, social language and fluency. Her areas of interest include social language skills, dysphagia, treatment of cognitive deficits due to Traumatic Brain Injury and early intervention.

Cassandra Underwood, B.S. Special Education, Wee Sign Coordinator

University of Arizona

Cassandra Underwood joined County Speech in January 2007. She has a background in American Sign Language, with early child development. She is passionate about teaching children at an early eage, language and to expand their vocabulary.
